Latest NEWS FROM H.B.C.

2023 Open day information

Our annual Open Day is being held on Saturday 29th April and will comprise two sessions 10:30 to 12:30 and 13:30 to 15:30. This is a great opportunity for novices to experience the game of bowls and also for experienced bowlers to come along and meet some Hykeham members and to see what we offer first hand. There is no need to book beforehand, just turn up at either session (or both if you're really keen), everyone is welcome.

Hykeham Bowls club goes to the dogs

Quite literally!!  Our social Committee organised a night out at the Owlerton Greyhound Racing Stadium in Sheffield. I don't think any great fortunes were made but everyone who went had a great time with some exciting races, a chicken strip supper and few wins here and there. Many thanks to Chris Lockley for the organisation.

END OF SEASON REVIEW

HBC had a very enjoyable 2022  bowling Season. We entered four teams in the newly formed Lincolnshire Area Bowls League and each team gave a good account of itself with some very good wins. The Monday night "internal league" competition proved highly popular with our members and will therefore continue next season.

We held our AGM in November 2022 where the membership were informed that the club is enjoying good membership levels and is running on a sustainable financial basis, all of which is good news for the club's future! A new Committee was elected with John Willcock continuing as President, Chris Cullen taking over the reigns as Chairman from John Bailey, and Julie Cullen staying on as Club Secretary. Good continuity was maintained as many of the Committee members were re-elected to serve again for 2022/23.

A lot of hard work has been devoted to green maintenance since  the season ended which is absolutely essential to allow the grass to recover during the Autumn and Winter. We will then prepare the green in early Spring so that we will again, have a green to be proud off for the new season.

The Committee would like to wish all Members, their families and friends a very Happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.

    ANNUAL HBC vs Perkins Retirees

Yesterday, Sunday 15th August, HBC welcomed a team from Perkins Retirees BC to take part in the  annual friendly match. This event is  firmly established in the HBC calendar.  The game was played in a great spirit of friendly competitiveness with HBC running out the eventual winners but as is the norm with this event, John Willcock (HBC President) declared the result a draw.

HBC Hosts LVP vs LBA SUNDAY 31st July

On Sunday 21st July, HBC played hosts to a friendly match between Lincolnshire Vice Presidents and the Lincolnshire Bowling Association. The weather was kind on the day with only a light shower. LBA emerged the victors but everyone enjoyed the day which started with bacon butties and ended with a delicious salad meal in the clubhouse.  HBC thanks everyone who helped on the day
