HERE'S WhaT Hykeham Bowls CLUB CAN OFFER
We offer both competitive bowling in local leagues and also the opportunity to bowl just for fun and practice in "roll up" sessions. We also offer sessions for people who have never bowled before but would like to try their hand before possibly joining our club. We also are able to offer coaching sessions by arrangement, for club members who are new to the game.
Lincoln AREA BOWLS LEAGUE :-
TUESDAY Evening format a
This is a mixed league with each match (9 players in each team) comprising : 1 rink of 2 wood pairs (25 ends), 1 rink of 3 wood triples (16 ends) and 1 rink of 2 wood fours (16 ends). We have one team in this league. Play is to EBF rules.
Matches are usually played on Tuesday evenings starting at 7:00 pm, except from April to May 14th and all of August when the start time is 6:30pm.
TUESDAY EVENING FORMAT B
This is a mixed league with each match (10 players in each team) comprising : 1 rink of 3 wood pairs (21 ends), 1 rink of 4 wood Australian pairs (16 ends), 1 rink of 2 wood triples (21 ends) and 1 rink of 3 wood triples (16 ends). We have one team in this league. Play is to EBF rules.
Matches are usually played on Tuesday evenings starting at 7:00 pm, except from April to May 14th and all of August when the start time is 6:30pm.
wednesday afternoon
The Club has two teams in the Wednesday Afternoon League. This is a mixed league with each match (9 players in each team) comprising : 3 rinks of 3 players 3 woods to 18 ends. Play is to EBF rules. Matches are usually played on Wednesday afternoons starting at 2:00 pm.
thursday evening
The club has two teams in this league. This is a mixed league with three rinks of three players (9 players in each team) 3 rinks of 3 players playing 3 woods to 18 ends. Play is to EBF rules. Matches are usually played on Thursday Evenings starting at 7:00 pm except from April to May 14th and all of August when that start time is 6:30pm.

The Club tries to offer a comprehensive mix of competitive play throughout the season in addition to the League play. For example, we have internal (Hykeham Bowls Club Members only) and also open competitions (open to both Hykeham Bowls Club members and members from other clubs). We also usually have a variety of friendly competitions both at home and away.

"Taster Sessions"
Taster Sessions take place on Saturday mornings 10:30-12:30 from 4th May to end of August.
These sessions are for non-members who would like to try their hand at the game of bowls. Equipment will be provided and basic instructions will be given by an experienced player. All we ask is that people attend wearing flat soled shoes such as trainers.
Similarly, experienced bowlers can attend these sessions so they can see the facilities of Hykeham Bowls Club before considering an application for membership.
We provide a maximum of two free sessions and then people can, at their option, choose to apply for club membership.

"MONDAY EVENING HOME LEAGUE" Competition
The Umbrella Competition is a great opportunity for new or novice Club members to gain practice and also to learn the art and craft of competitive bowling.
It is played each Friday morning during the season starting from Friday 26th April. There will be a mix of experienced players and those players who are new to the game. The experienced players are happy to share their knowledge during these games and "bring on" the newer players. Teams are drawn on the day depending on numbers and the shot score is recorded. At the end of the season the best ten scores are aggregated to decide the winners. Only rink fees are charged for this competition.

Monday Evening Home League
This is an internal club competition and the only charge is rink fees per session. This is played in a similar way to the Umbrella Competition in that entrants will be drawn into teams for each session and points scored at an individual level will go towards a final score at the end of the season. The competition runs every Monday evening throughout the outdoor season starting on Monday 22nd April *. Arrive 6:00pm for 6:30pm start. Played to EBF rules. There will be cash prizes for the winners and podium places.
